Fall Winter 2022 Trend Guide
One
GRUNGE MARRIES THE MATRIX
With the globe becoming increasingly digital, it’s no wonder that the iconic blacked-out aesthetic of The Matrix has reawakened this season—going rough around the edges and merging with the best of grunge. As seen in Versace’s Fall 2022 collection, this sleek leather-loving look is charmingly disheveled, seemingly unintentional, and authoritatively attention-grabbing. Givenchy’s Fall 2022 collection by Matthew Williams is the best example of this contemporary punk energy. It’s a futuristic ‘90s stealth look that says, “I’m ready for anything—business, party, secret mission, or all three.”
Two
BLUE JEAN BABY
Meet this season’s poster child—the new blue jean. Every design house has a daring, fashion-forward take that’s reimagining basic denim. Functional and fun, this retro material is coming into the new age in unexpected forms: from The Attico’s sculptural cargos to Miu Miu hats and Alexander Wang’s oversized blazer. Don’t shy away from a denim-on-denim monochromatic moment, like our favorite sets from Mugler, Amiri, AREA, and Loewe. And, if you needed to choose one denim piece to flaunt all season long—opt for a handsome handbag from the big three: Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, and Givenchy.
Three
ULTRA-LUXE CABARET
Say “yes” to dramatic decadence, the neo-luxe cabaret is calling—and it’s bringing the best of show business to your wardrobe. This maximalist vision of glamor flaunts highly-saturated color palettes, sultry satins, and metallic finishes. Glitter, sequins, and feathers, too? In this case, “more is always more." Think the shimmering gowns of LaQuan Smith’s New York Fashion Week show, the dazzling eveningwear in Bottega Veneta Fall 2022’s collection, and of course, Gucci’s Love Parade collection displayed in Los Angeles.
Four
PULL A POWER PLAY
Amp up the power of your fall wardrobe with provocative andcommanding silhouettes. This season is all about subversively sexy—blending architectural proportions with second-skin fittings. Post-lockdown, skin is in—plunging necklines, exaggerated cut-outs, and extreme sheer materials show it o while the best is tastefully left as a surprise. As seen in Eli Mizrahi’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection for Mônot, she’s playful, dangerous, and packs a strong punch.
