Born in 1939 in La Spezia, Italy, Gaetano Pesce has left a lasting imprint in varying disciplines of art, design, urban planning, and architecture. After studying architecture at the University of Venice, Pesce became a part of the groundbreaking kinetic art collective Gruppo N in the 1960s. The guiding principle found in all his works is the utilization of modernism as a method of commentary on the present and expression of individuality.

Using resin, foam, and plastics as his signature materials, Pesce has been commissioned to design installations and objects for B&B Italia, Cassina, and Vitra, amongst an expansive portfolio of design studios. Challenging accepted standards and concepts, Pesce conjures up pieces that are functional and imperfect. In his collaboration with Milan-based manufacturer Fish Design, the architect designed tableware and home objects to evoke vibrant and whimsical fluidity.
