Evocative of romantic yesteryear and the unknown bounds of the celestial cosmos, Markarian, which is named after a group of radiant galaxies, is meant to make a woman feel just as special as an elusive, shooting star. Founded in 2017 in New York, Alexandra O’Neill decided to combine her knowledge of mythology and antiquities to create a timeless fashion brand for the modern woman.
Markarian is known for its elegant gowns, dainty separates and dramatic dresses. There is an ethereal feel to all of her pieces from the feminine textiles and prints she sources to the delicate attention to detail. Her laced trimmed dresses and rainbow sequin tops are meant to be worn as classic pieces that have a playful, urban edge. Each design is manufactured in New York City and the four-person team is based out of O’Neill’s own apartment in Greenwich village.
