Accessibility Statement

1. Our Mission

Good business requires serving all of our customers. For The Webster’s web content, that means an unwavering commitment to accessibility so that all customers can easily access, navigate, and shop our online store.

2. What We’ve Done

To that end, The Webster has adopted the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 A & AA compliance level standards developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the leading standard for successful web accessibility.

The Webster considers digital accessibility an imperative in today's digital landscape. Ensuring that our website is perceivable, operable, and understandable by people with one or more physical or cognitive disabilities, whether temporary or permanent, is important to us. To help us achieve and maintain compliance over time, we have installed the AI-driven remediation service Max Access created by Online ADA, a national leader in digital accessibility consulting services. Our goal is to ensure that all users can perceive, operate, and understand the content on our website. Max Access helps us achieve that goal by, using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), scanning our site, identifying accessibility problems, remediating a significant portion of them automatically, and giving a report on additional issues that require manual remediation.

We are committed to ensuring that our website is accessible for all users. Automated auditing and remediation are limited tools that cannot identify every accessibility limitation. If, for any reason, you find that a part of this platform is unusable for you or could have its accessibility improved in a specific way, please reach out to us and we will review your feedback promptly and carefully.

Web Technology Requirements

Accessibility of this website relies on the following technologies to work with the particular combination of web browsers and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:

  • HTML
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

We are committed to ensuring that our website is accessible for all users implementing the following accessibility features, among others:

1. Improved Site Structure

(a) We use titles, labels, and other heading structures to help users navigate our pages with assistive technology.

2. Improved Keyboard Access

3. Added Text Equivalents

(a) Alternative text for appropriate images and non-text visual elements presents equivalent information to assistive technology.

4. Site Consistency

(a) We use repeated navigational mechanisms to achieve consistent functionality when you interact with the site.

5. Improved website readability

(a) Augmented contrast on text overlays and text/background.

(b) Augmented font size and weight where needed

3. Where We’re Going

The Webster’s goal is to provide an accessible experience for all site visitors. But web accessibility is not a finite project; it is an ongoing process as well as an evolving field. So, while we continue to test our website to identify any new issues and meet or exceed the WCAG 2.0 AA standards whenever possible, we also plan to run regular audits to ensure our online store stays up to date with evolving technologies, recommendations, and guidelines.

4. Tell Us What You Think

We also need your help. Accessibility for all users is our measure of success. However, different versions of assistive technologies, web browsers, and operating systems can affect the end user’s experience. If you encounter accessibility challenges, or have any feedback regarding the accessibility features of the website, we encourage you to contact us at accessibility@thewebster.com
